How To Start a Yoga Wear Brand With Accessible MOQ

Packaged yoga wear ready for shipment

The biggest myth stopping first-time apparel founders from launching is that you need to order thousands of units to get a manufacturer’s attention. In practice, most yoga wear factories — including ours — work with minimum order quantities in the 50–100 pieces per style range, which puts a real, sellable collection within reach of a founder testing an idea, not just an established label reordering a bestseller.

Here’s a practical path from idea to your first shipment.

  1. 01

    Narrow your first collection

Resist launching ten styles at once. Two or three well-developed pieces — a legging, a bra, one hero style — let you validate demand without splitting your budget across too many samples.

  2. 02

    Gather references, not just ideas

A Pinterest board is a start, but a manufacturer works faster from something concrete: a competitor garment you like the fit of, a fabric swatch, or rough measurements. You don’t need a finished tech pack to get a first quote.

  3. 03

Confirm MOQ and fabric options up front

Ask specifically what the minimum is per style and per colorway — these are sometimes different — and what fabric options fall within that minimum before you commit to a sample.

  4. 04

Budget for sampling as its own phase

Expect one to two rounds of sample revisions before a style is ready for bulk. This typically takes 7–10 working days per round once fabric and design are confirmed — build that into your launch timeline.

  5. 05

Decide your private label details early

Neck labels, hang tags and packaging take lead time too. Confirm these alongside your garment sample, not as an afterthought once bulk production has already started.

  6. 06

Plan your reorder before you launch

A low MOQ that gets you to market is also low enough that a successful style can sell out fast. Know your manufacturer’s reorder lead time before launch day, not after you’re already out of stock.

“A 50-piece MOQ isn’t a compromise — it’s what makes it possible to test a real product with real customers before betting your whole budget on one guess.”

What Accessible MOQ Actually Changes

Low minimums don’t just lower the financial bar to entry — they change how you can run your business. You can test two colorways instead of committing to one. You can launch a style, watch how it sells, and adjust before scaling up. And you can reorder based on actual demand rather than guessing a year of inventory upfront.

That flexibility is worth factoring into how you choose a manufacturing partner — not just the unit price at scale, but how much room you have to learn and adjust while you’re still finding your footing.
